Day 3 – SANTIAGO DE CHILE - MENDOZA
Breakfast. Check out at the hotel and transfer to the airport for your flight to Mendoza. Enroute to the airport your will visit city tour of Santiago featuring the city’s main attractions. The tour begins with a visit to the historic city center, with the central plaza as a highlight (Plaza de Armas), kilometer zero and crucial center of the capital, where the construction of Santiago began during the colonial era, with old buildings, such as the Metropolitan Cathedral, a beautiful building that combines Bavarian and neoclassical styles of that time. In this context, a tour through the civic district, with the ministerial building surrounding the government’s house, the Palacio de la Moneda, a silent witness of the most relevant event in our republican history. To conclude the historical area, a tour by the old and stately neighborhoods of the old “high society”, a place full of an exquisite architectonic variety brought by immigrants, mainly European, in a time of great mining exploitation and high-born families. Later, a magnificent panoramic view from one of our hills in the city, where it is possible to appreciate a part of the mountain-chain slopes that surround the city, afterwards, go to the western area to see the great architectural contrast. A thriving and contemporary city that proves its best with impressive buildings of daring architectonic styles that represent a seal of modernity to this big city. Arrival in Mendoza at the end of the day and transfer to the hotel located in Maipu Valley. Situated at the foot of The Andes, Mendoza is the capital city of the homonymous province and the most important city of the West of Argentina. It is an incredible oasis to grow fruits and vegetables due to the presence of the Mendoza and Tunuyán Rivers. The climate of the region is mild though the mountains provide a certain degree of aridity. In the city, there is a beautiful sight of streets flanked by trees, squares and parks linked by a web of irrigation ditches which is 500 km long and waters the whole area allowing city planning even in arid zones. Land with historic tradition, Mendoza keeps many memories of San Martín's epic in the “Cerro de la Gloria” (Hill of the Glory), “El Plumerillo” and “San Martín Park”.

Wide boulevards lined with palatial mansions, flower markets, and bustling outdoor cafés add to its appeal. We will start our visit at Plaza de Mayo, the center of the most important political and social events in Argentine history. We continue southward to visit La Boca colourful neighbourhood. We will end our tour with a visit to San Telmo, the historical and most representative neighbourhood of the city. It preserves the city architectural and cultural patrimony of the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries.
Next we go to Palermo, a residential neighbourhood with elegant mansions surrounded with green spaces. Visit its outstanding spots: the zoo, the Botanical gardens, the Palermo Park, the National Polo field and the Planetarium. Day at leisure to walk around the area, visit an Art Gallery or museum or just do some last-minute shopping.

Evening: Dinner and tango show at Tango Porteño. By the end of the XIXth. century, when in Buenos Aires the tango started to spread and melt with the soul of the folk, mixing slowly with the essence of the native and immigrant people, and when the village pretended to transform -disorderly- into a city, one of its most picturesque quarters was "El Abasto", where labour was in the air during the day, and tango pervaded the night. While slowly growing around the supplying market after which the quarter took its name (in Spanish, abastecer means to supply), "El Abasto" neighbourhood witnessed the rise of an indisputable popular idol: Carlos Gardel. "Chanta Cuatro" opened its doors in 1893, as a two-floor restaurant and hotel. Among its premises, there was a "bochas" alley, a traditional game at that time that originated the peculiar name of the place. After the show return to the hotel.

      OPTIONAL POST TOUR TO SALTA

      Day 10– BUENOS AIRES -SALTA
Breakfast. Transfer from Buenos Aires hotel to the domestic airport and flight to Salta. Salta is a provincial capital in mountainous northwestern Argentina. Founded in 1582, it is known for its Spanish colonial architecture and Andean heritage. The city centers on Plaza 9 de Julio, an elegant, cafe-lined square bordered by the neoclassical Salta Cathedral and El Cabildo, an 18th-century town hall turned historical museum. Museo de Arqueología de Alta Montaña (MAAM) nearby houses Incan artifacts. Arrival, welcome by our local representative and transfer to the hotel.
Afternoon, enjoy a private city tour of Salta- Half Day (4hs 100 Kms) The city of Salta is one of the most picturesque cities in Argentina. It is known as "beautiful Salta", probably due to its privileged location in the Lerma Valley, and by the attractive contrast between its colonial buildings and modern urban architecture. It is, without a doubt, the best city that has preserved its colonial appearance, with its houses of one plan, and its characteristic railed balconies of the colonial era richly worked. Its center is the Plaza 9 de Julio, around which are some of the characteristics of the most important buildings in the city, the main hotels and numerous bars and restaurants. The visit allows you to appreciate the treasures most representative of the colonial times: the Church and the Convent of San Francisco - the current building dates back to the mid-century XVllI and Minor Basilica declared by the Vatican in 1997-, the Cabildo and Historical Museum of the North, which was built from the foundation of the city, and was the former seat of government of the viceroyalty and, subsequently, the provincial government-, the Convent of San Bernardo from the end of the sixteenth century, whose portal of carved Algarrobo (carob) is considered a jewel of Salta colonial art, and the Basilica Cathedral, of Italian design from the beginning of the XX century, where the remains of the hero of the battles for independence, General Martín Miguel de Guemes are buried. The tour continues in the surrounding area of Salta, to arrive at the Cerro San Bernardo, where the Monument to General Martín Miguel de Guemes is located. From the hill, there is a spectacular panoramic view of the city at your feet and the Lerma Valley in general. The tour ends in the Mercado Artesanal, Craft Market, where you can see the most varied manifestations of the mastery of the local artisans. In all corners of the province of Salta produce attractive pieces of pottery, baskets, textiles, tapestries, and ponchos, as well as musical instruments. At the end of the tour, return to the hotel.
      Evening at leisure
Accommodation: Hotel Alejandro – Standard Room – Breakfast
      Day 11– SALTA
Breakfast at the hotel. Cafayate Tour with Museum Fee Included. Private Service with English speaking Guide - Full Day (12hs - 390 Kms) Entrance included. Depart from the hotel toward Cafayate, a beautiful town located in the middle of a paradisiacal environment, right in the heart of the Valles Calchaquíes. The tour crosses the towns of Cerrillos, El Carril, a typical village of the Lerma Valley, Ampascachi, Talapampa, Germany, and, finally, the Gorge of the Rio de las Conchas, also called Quebrada de Cafayate, whose reddish limestone walls, eroded by wind and water, carve capricious forms that will surprise the traveller at every curve of the road. The formations have been named by local residents according to their curious shapes: the amphitheater, the Garganta del Diablo, or Devils’ throat, the obelisk, the castles. Surrounded by rivers, within a belt of vineyards, the town of Cafayate is located, one of the most beautiful of the province. There you can see the beautiful homes that gracefully combine colonial and Baroque styles. The parish church and the municipal building merit a visit. The region is characterized by its wine production; one of the most outstanding is the Torrontes variety. To know different aspects of wine production, we visited one of the wineries in the region: Piatelli. During the tour, appreciate the process and elaboration of the traditional wines of the region, and have the opportunity to taste one of the best Argentinian wines. At the end, you can choose to have lunch in one of these wineries either in the restaurant or taking a picnic accompanied by excellent wines or in a traditional downtown restaurant (lunch (not included). Then we made a brief tour of the center of Cafayate to see its colonial church and visit the Museum of Vine and Wine. We undertake the return to Salta, but we still have some stops to continue exploring the Quebrada de Cafayate, such as the Tres Cruces lookout from where we obtain the size of the stream or to reach some of the formations by a short walk. Before reaching Salta, we passed through Posta de las Cabras, the ideal place for our last stop before arriving in the city.

      Day 12 – SALTA
Breakfast at the hotel. Quebrada de Humahuaca Tour with a museum visit. Private Service with English speaking Guide - Full Day (14hs- 520 Kms) Excursion through the Quebrada de Humahuaca declared World Heritage Site, where the landscape and the colors of the hills combine with the equally colorful cultures that inhabit the area. It is a journey of social contact and ancient culture. The route begins with the arrival at the small town of Purmamarca to see the Cerro de los Siete Colores, (Seven Colors Mt.) site of the adobe chapel in honor of Saint Rose of Lima - declared national historic monument - which dates from the year 1648 and the artisan market in the square. Step through the Posta de Hornillos, continuing to the town of Tilcara to visit the Pucara, an ancient pre-Columbian indigenous fortress partially reconstructed. The journey continues towards Huacalera, Tropic of Capricorn passage, where the colors of the hill called the Pollera (skirt) of the Collas, can be appreciated. Also visit the Church of Uquia, where paintings of the Ángeles Arcabuceros, (an important vestige of the school of Cuzco painting in the area) are located. Finally, arrive at the town of Humahuaca located at 2939 meters above the sea level (9642ft). Humahuaca was founded by natives of the region in the year 1594 and stands out for its pure architectural colonial houses of adobe, narrow cobblestone streets and colonial lanterns, but mainly for the warmth of its inhabitants. It is interesting to stop for a moment in the main square, around which are grouped the main monuments and historical buildings, such as the church, the Colonial Cabinet, Monument to the Wars for Argentinian Independence - known as Monument to the Indian - and the municipal fair and Northern Carnival Museum. After free time for lunch, start the return and observe Paleta del Pintor, a mount that frames the Maimará village.
